In the End picks up where In the After left off, with Amy having fled the New Hope community. I enjoyed reading In the End and seeing Amy continue to grow as a character but the book was missing something or rather someone...One of the things I loved about the first book in the series was the relationship between Amy and Baby. In this book Amy spends most of her time trying to figure out a way to rescue Baby from New Hope and although there are a couple of new compelling characters introduced (Jacks and Brenna) I think the book suffers from the separation of the two sisters. It would have been fantastic to have more of Baby's story and what she was going through at New Hope. The ending of the book seemed very rushed to me and the resolution wasn't as satisfying as it could have been (maybe there's a third book in the works?). All in all still a book worth reading, and better than some 2nd books (I'm looking at you Siege and Storm!) but doesn't compare to the first.

The End Of It A Novel eBook Mitchell Goodman Reviews
This was an AMAZING series. Loved everything about it. There were twists and turns, excitment and frightening situations that I believe the Author nailed perfectly in this series. This is the second book in the 'In the After" series. I would totally recomend this book, trust me you will not be disappointed. I will continue to reread this book for a long time, its a keeper!!
This book was terrifying to read. It was well written, but the idea of being stuck in an apocalypse at a prison with inmates being out with the general population was scary. I think I'd risk the creatures outside the walls first. At least we know what they are thinking and are dangerous. I read the first and liked it better but this was a good follow up and a satisfying finish.
This book could stand by it's own, but it is a nice wrap up from IN The After (book one). Well written, clean. I like her take on the end of the world and how it came to be - we are our worst enemies. Found myself getting involved with the characters hating some, loving others. Good teenage or young adult read, though I enjoyed it at 60.
I really enjoyed the overall storyline of the two books. The main character, Amy, is very sympathetic and very believable. I enjoyed experiencing -- for lack of a better term --her coming of age in a world gone to hell. The story arc between the two books is both convincing and compelling. My only complaint is that the very end seemed incredibly rushed.
SPOILER ALERT I didn't feel like the antagonist got his comeuppance in any satisfying way. His henchmen were never really addressed. The "love triangle" was hardly resolved, as was the mental issues with Baby and the future of the possible vaccine.
Having said all that, I really enjoyed both books and will definitely be looking to read more of Demetria Lunetta's future works!
If you like Hunger Games, Fifth Wave, and dystopian fiction in general, you will love this book. You will also immediately buy the second one as soon as you finish. Unfortunately I don't see a third book. I encourage the author to write one as it seems unfinished, or that the story could unfold more. Aside from wanting a third book, you will not be disappointed, this is a unique take on end of the world survival!
I really enjoyed these books and thought they were a good idea in theory. The issue I have is the second book feels like it has nothing to do with the first one. I actually forgot it was attached to a previous book. Each book on their own had good ideas and stories though.
I enjoyed this book more than the first, but really liked them both. After Amy is whisked away from the seeming Eutopia of the colony of New Hope, she's dropped off by her friends near another colony, Fort Black. Fort Black is everything that New Hope isn't. It's terrifying, almost as terrifying than "outside." At least with the monsters you know what you're dealing with. Amongst the humans within Fort Black, well...imagine the towns in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome & Fury Road. There are good people just trying to survive and raise their kids, but there are very bad people, too. There are a few violent scenes. As far as romance (fyi parents of tweens worried about sex) there's just a few kisses, just like in the first book.
